PROCHARGER CHAMPION: JIM PLIMPTON
The 5th annual HOT ROD Pump Gas Drags were held May 10th in Memphis, TN and ProCharger had an amazing showing. Jim Plimpton and his ’87 T-bird began in the number three qualifying position. Plimpton’s ProCharger supercharged and intercooled 572 cid Ford powered him to an event winning 8.53 @ 163.06 mph! Plimpton was also a finalist in the 2008 DynoMax Power to the Wheel competition where he put down 1,443 rear-wheel horsepower on the DynoMax chassis-dyno.
Based in Cudahy, WI, the Plimpton Thunderbird makes all of that power on pump-gas and is fed by the famed F-3R-139 ProCharger self-contained supercharger. Plimpton is proof that a ProCharged pump-gas street car is easily capable of those big power numbers normally reserved for race cars.
