Rust to Rockin! ‘69 Camaro Installs ProCharger’s SBC Accessory Drive Kit
FATHER-SON TEAM RESTORES 1969 CAMARO WITH BIG POWER
From starting this story as a parts car rusting away in an Oklahoma field to strutting its stuff fully restored and making the 2500-mile cruise for PowerTour, Jacob Dietz and his father’s 1969 Chevrolet Camaro fully embody the spirit of car culture!
And one of their final upgrades is our ProCharger Accessory Drive Kit with a P-1SC supercharger. We caught up with Jacob and his dad to learn more about this beast of a build.
A 2-GENERATION PASSION PROJECT EXEMPLIFIES CAR CULTURE
When asked where this whole project started, Jacob had this to say: “My dad purchased the car when he was a sophomore in high school. It was literally a parts car rusting away in a field in Oklahoma. He put the car together enough to be drivable, but did the bare minimum with cheap parts because he was a broke high school kid. He got a loan from his mom to paint the car when he was in college.”
30 years later, with Jacob now in the equation, he wanted to do something for Father’s Day and looked into replacing his windshield wiper mechanism and fluid system. This is where the aftermarket upgrade bug took hold!
After that, the father-son team set their sights higher, aiming to have the car ready for the prestigious Rocky Mountain Race Week. Highlighting the preparation for the event, Jacob mentioned, “We put in a new TKO transmission, new wiring, replaced interior parts that had deteriorated, and a whole host of other improvements. Eventually, I built and installed a new engine to replace the engine my dad installed in 1990, which was made possible because I was working at an engine machine shop.”

When asked if it wasn’t for the ProCharger ADK, would he be looking to put on another brand’s ADK, Jacob had this to say: “Actually, it previously had a March accessory drive, but I wasn’t a fan of the mechanical tensioner or configuration. Jacob added, “I wasn’t looking to put on a blower, but thought it was a great idea to leave the possibility open in the future. But as luck would have it, the opportunity to install a ProCharger supercharger presented itself much sooner and I took it.”
Speaking on the future of this build, Jacob mentioned: “What’s next? I’m not too sure where we’ll go from here. Probably a new rear end now that we have more power.” Wherever this build leads, we hope to see this bad-to-the-bone ProCharged beast attending many more Drag-N-Drive events and making boost for miles!
