| Fun Ford Weekend: March 1-2 @ Orlando Speed World Dragway | ||
![]() |
Orlando Speed World Dragway played host to the 18th Annual Fun Ford Weekend Spring Break Shootout, March 1st-2nd. Defending series champ and ProCharger racer Travis Franklin qualified no.1 with a blazing 7.834. Franklin, running an Intercooled and self-contained ProCharger F-3A-123, had the only 7-second run in the ProCharger Street Renegade qualifying rounds. Travis was one of eleven ProCharged champions in 2007, and 2008 looks to be another record breaking year for all the outstanding racers powered by ProCharger superchargers.

ProCharger racers had a great showing at the Memphis Mid South Nationals February 29th - March 2nd. Three of the top four Pro Street qualifiers were all powered by ProCharger. Ric Fleck reset the quickest ProCharged automatic powerglide record with a 6.38 @ 217mph which put him in the no.2 spot in qualifying. Mark Micke took the no.3 spot with a 6.40 @ 212mph and Jarod Wenrick qualified no.4 with a 6.48 @ 217mph. Jarod is the 2007 NSCA Pro Street Champion, and Mark holds the title for quickest ProCharged racer. Tommy Brewer also set a ProCharger record by running an outstanding 7.43 @ 188mph in the Outlaw Radial class. With that run Brewer became the quickest ProCharged Radial Tire car. Brewer advanced all the way to the final round, but lost due to transmission issues. |

| NMRA: March 6th-9th @ Bradenton Motorsports Park | ||

The NMRA event March 6th-9th in Bradenton, FL saw 14 ProCharger racers participate. They took three of the top five Super Street Outlaw qualifying positions! Phil Hines qualified no.1 with a 7.46 @ 191mph, AJ Powell qualified no.2 with a 7.48 @ 185mph and John Urist took the no.5 spot with a 7.60 @ 190mph. Urist not only debuted his newly-constructed '93 Mustang at this event, but went on to defend his 2007 Championship with a season-opening SSO win and a best E.T. of 7.57 @ 194mph. Carl Barnett came with his new '06 Mustang powered by a 382cid small block Ford and an F-3R-131 self contained supercharger. The Barnett crew is still adjusting their new combination but ran a best time of 8.43 @ 168mph in Pro 10.5W. The popular Drag Radial class saw eight ProCharged racers make the show. Past ProCharger dominance and advanced product design has led to some interesting handicaps in this class. Not only are turbo rules very "loose", ProCharged racers are currently limited to a relatively small 9.75" compressor while other companies are allowed to run 12" compressors to try to keep up. Despite this uneven playing field, ProCharged racers captured 4 of the top 8 qualifying spots, including Phil Clemmons with an 8.29 @ 171mph, Jason Lee posting a 8.43 @ 167mph, Maura Vitale running an 8.56, and Chris Tueton with an 8.51. Chris' best run of the weekend was an 8.23 @ 170mph. ProCharger racers also had an outstanding Real Street showing with Tim Matherly against Jim Breese in the finals. Breese qualified no.2 with a 9.74 @ 140mph and took the runner-up position of the event. Matherly qualified no.1 with a 9.74 @ 138mph and served notice that he too will be defending his 2007 Championship by beating Breese in the finals to take the win at Bradenton. |

The NMCA event in Bradenton, FL March 28th-30th saw one of the largest Pro Street fields in recent history. With 22 cars trying to get into the 16 car field, it was a race just to see who was going to make the final qualifying ladder! ProCharged racer Mark Micke qualified with a 6.47 @ 216.34mph. That was strong enough to land him the 4th spot. Micke raced his race by cutting great lights and running in the 6.40's round after round. Micke then faced Steve King in the finals and the Micke crew ended up with the big Pro Street win. This marks the first ProCharger powered Chevy to win a Pro Street NMCA event! Mike Yedgarian participated in the Super Street 10.5W class with his ProCharger powered and intercooled BBC Trans Am. Yedgarian qualified with a 7.51 @ 197.36mph and had a best run of 7.33 @ 201.07mph. X-Treme Street racer Chuck Bartholme, who last season became the first Xtreme Street racer to run in the 7's, qualified 7th out of 21 cars with an 8.22 @ 167.94mph. Micheal Keenan was also in attendance with his F-1R powered SBF Mustang and took the 8th qualifying position with an 8.27 @ 163.72mph. Brad Schehr and his '89 D-1 powered Mustang qualified 2nd in the Street Race class with a 9.12 @ 152.95mph. |

Steve Morris, the engine builder and ProCharger supercharger dealer extraordinaire who helped Denny Terzich win Hot Rod's Drag Week in a ProCharged '67 Camaro last season, is teaming up with Jim Plimpton to build another ProCharged monster, this time for the Hot Rod pump gas drags. The car is a 1989 Thunderbird with a carbureted 572 cid BBF, powered by a ProCharger F-3R-131. Keep an eye on this team when the Pump Gas drags are held in May, as well as at other events.
