| NMCA/NMRA Super Bowl, July 15-18, Joliet, IL |

The annual NMCA versus NMRA "Super Bowl" once again rolled into Route 66 Raceway outside of Joliet, IL as the 1,320-ft battle ground for bragging rights, as well as a chance to earn valuable points as both series are now into their second half of the season.
In NMCA Pro Street racing, the constantly improving Sullivan/Micke team qualified their big HEMI-powered, ProCharger F-3R supercharged Dodge Status third in the 15 car field with a very stout 6.31 @ 215 mph. They won their first round match up but went down in the second round of eliminations. Keep your eyes on this team as they are definitely getting their new-car traction issues sorted out.
NMCA Street Radial racer Brad Schehr made the long haul from south Florida to Joliet to protect his points lead. Making the most of his long trip, Schehr qualified on the pole with an 8.751 @ 156.64 mph and then proceeded to blast his way through eliminations and came out with the win! Schehr and his F-1R ProCharged, small block Ford-powered Mustang solidified their points lead with his Joliet win.
NMCA's Xtreme Street class witnessed an interesting teaming of two ProCharger supercharged racers. Chris Singleton and Jason Lee decided to team up with Lee driving Singleton's F-1R ProCharger-equipped Mustang coupe. The dynamic duo qualified third out of 15 cars with an 8.11 @ 170 mph. Unfortunately the team lost in the second round of eliminations due to a crowd-pleasing 600 foot wheel stand. Also on hand was Dave Roemer with his LSX powered and ProCharger F-1R-equipped 2001 Camaro. Even though Roemer is still sorting out his new combination, he still managed to qualify with a solid 8.51 @ 167.53 before going out in the first round of eliminations. Roemer's beautifully prepared Camaro was the featured cover car August issue of GM High-Tech Performance. Moving on to NMRA classes, the action in ProCharger Super Street Outlaw was fast as always and well represented with ProCharger racers John Urist, John MacDonald, and Phil Hines all in attendance. Hines qualified his ProCharged Mustang in the fifth spot with a 7.64 @ 185 mph. Urist qualified number three with a 7.50 @ 189 mph, while Johnny Mac ended up in the number one position with an outstanding 7.38 @ 193.21 mph. The Triangle Speed Shop Team was also on hand sorting out their mod-motored, ProCharger F-2 combination. Driver Daniel Pachar qualified with a 7.88 @ 176 mph. This team is continuing to show improvement and after a late night thrashes to change a torque convertor, their hard work is starting pay off. The eliminations ladder was not very friendly to three of the ProCharger-powered racers, as Hines, Urist, and MacDonald all ended up on the same side of the bracket. Urist took out Hines in the first round and Johnny Mac in the second round. Urist would find himself again in the finals were he lost traction 60 feet off the line and lost.
In the NMRA's Drag Radial class, ProCharger supchargers were again very well represented with four cars racing in the fourteen-car field. Jeff Lorch driving Jamey Swanson's entry qualified with a 9.26 @ 134 mph. They suffered some engine damage on that run but are confident that they will be back strong at the Columbus, OH event. Enzo Pechinni qualified his ProCharged Mustang with a 9.05 @ 153 mph. This was not a great weekend for Pechinni as he was sorting thru some issues. Chad Doyle was back in action, qualifying his ProCharger-equipped Mustang with an 8.31 @ 172 mph. However, it was once again Jason Lee locking down the number one qualifying position, with his ProCharger F-1R enhanced Mustang blowing the competition away with an 8.14 @ 173 mph. Lee and Doyle would face each other in the second round with Lee winning the match up. Lee advanced to the finals (his fourth in a row) but wasn't able to take the win.
In the hotly contested NMRA Real Street class, defending champion Tim Matherly was in attendance as was his teammate Jim Breese. Matherly qualified his ProCharger P-1SC-2 equipped Mustang in the number one spot with a 9.52 @ 144 mph effort, while Breese qualified his P-1SC-2 ProCharged Mustang fifth with a 9.76 @ 139 mph. Breese would lose his first round matchup while Matherly once again raced his way into the finals. Leaving Joliet, Matherly still maintains the point lead in the Real Street class. Brothers Scott and Mike Bracken run their twin-engined "Outlaw" tractor in the Missouri State Tractor Pulling Association's 7,400 lb Modified class. Twin HEMI engines can only mean one...OK, two things: two ProCharger F-3R-135 superchargers! Each of the monster HEMI's displace 498 cubic inches and really come to life when fed 40+ pounds of ProCharger boost. Put all this together and you have more than 4,400 dirt-flinging horsepower!
And how are the Bracken's doing? Quite well thank you. After securing a season championship in the 7,200 lb modified class in 2008, the powerful Bracken team is currently 1st in the 2010 points with several more events to go.

ProCharger Profile: Mark Gjavenis
If you're into big block Chevelles, chances are very good that you have already seen, heard or read about Mark Gjavenis' ultra-clean 1965 Chevelle. Gjavenis' street-driven Chevy was originally built for cruising and laying down some serious number for the Dynomax Dyno Challenge from a few years ago. This is one serious street car! Equipped with a 540-cid Dart Big M block topped with AFR 355 heads and an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold, Gjavenis then mounted a ProCharger F-2 supercharger in a blow-through carb configuration. Running on 105 octane E85 fuel, Gjavenis has put down as much as 1,250 rwhp on the dyno.
As if that wasn't a big enough thrill for the affable Minnesotan, Gjavenis is now running the show-quality Chevelle at the drag strip. Running M/T 275 drag radials, Gjavenis celebrated the fourth of July holiday at Brainerd International Raceway by running an outstanding 8.96 @ 155 mph! On the street, on the dyno and now on the track, Gjavenis' beautiful ProCharger Chevelle is an outstanding testament to 1,200+ hp cars that can be driven and enjoyed every day.
ProCharger Profile: Al Jiminez
Extreme Drag Radial is one of the Pacific Street Car Association's popular categories and Al Jiminez knows what it takes to win championships: consistency and speed. Having won a PSCA Wild Street Championship in 2008, Jiminez's F-3R-135 ProCharged big block Chevrolet engine combination was essentially outlawed. Never one to let something like that stand in his way, Jiminez has now moved to the Extreme Drag Radial class where his Camaro has now earned the title of "the fastest leaf spring drag radial car in the world"!
Follow this link to an online story about Jiminez, complete with video of an outstanding 7.33 @ 196 mph pass: http://www.dragzine.com/news/video-al-jiminez-and-the-fastest-leaf-spring-radial-car-in-the-world/
ProCharger Profile: Chris Evans
Another ProCharger-powered racer is also turning some drag racing heads; only this one is on the east coast of the US. Evans and his "Big Green" Mustang are having the type of season that many racers can only dream about. Running 275 radials, Evans' ProCharged Mustang has been the epitome of consistency, reliability and repeatability. In the Xtreme 275 Radial racing, Jason Lee made the 45 minute haul to his home track where he again showed his ProCharger domination. Lee qualified number one before powering his way to the event win. In doing so, Lee also ran low ET for the event with an outstanding 8.14.
Outlaw Drag Radial is an eighth-mile class and the Milan event saw Jim Plimpton of Hot Rod Magazine's Pump Gas drags fame and outlaw drag radial stand out Dave Hinzman representing ProCharger. Plimpton qualified his ProCharged big block Ford-powered Thunderbird in the number two position with an outstanding 4.80, while Hinzman grabbed the number one spot in his supercharged big block Chevy-powered Mustang. The two would be paired up on opposite's sides of the ladder with both freight training their way for a final round match up. Hinzman won the final round pairing by running another 4.70 @ 153 mph with Plimpton spinning the rear tires right off the line.
