  NMRA All-Star Nationals, Z-Max Dragway, Aug 6-9

New to the schedule this year, the NMRA & NMCA converged for an All-Star event at the state-of-the-art zMAX Dragway near Charlotte, NC. This "Bellagio of Dragstrips" is a one-of-a-kind facility with the only all-concrete, four-lane drag strip in the United States.

In ProCharger Super Street Outlaw racing, defending champion John Urist put his ProCharger F-3R power to good use, qualifying #1 with a 7.40 @ 195 mph. With the number one spot secured, Urist earned a bye run in the first round. Uncharacteristically, Urist red-lit in the second round of competition, ending his weekend. However, number two qualifier, Johnny MacDonald used his ProCharger power and consistency to advance to the final round and ended up taking his first ever SSO event win!

Congratulations to MacDonald and the entire Motorcity Motorsports team. With his big win, MacDonald left zMAX nipping at Urists' back bumper for the season-long championship. In the always wild Drag Radial class, the battle for the championship looks to be coming down to the wire between not just one, but two ProCharger-equipped racers. Enzo Pecchini and Jason Lee are both racing it out for their first NMRA championship. After both qualified very well, the lack-of-traction bug found Lee who went out in the second round. Meanwhile, Pecchini found a way to hook up all his ProCharger power and advanced to the finals. Leaving zMAX, Lee is holding on to first place in the standings, with Pecchini closing in rapidly.

In the NMRA's Real Street class, the ProCharger-equipped Mustangs of Tim Matherly, Jim Breese and David Ginter made up half of the six car field. Matherly qualified number 2, Breese number 4 and Ginter number 6. Fighting traction issues on the tricky zMAX surface, Breese and Ginter both went out in the first round and Matherly going out in the second. The hotly contested race for the Real Street championship will come down the end between two-time and defending ProCharger champion Matherly and nitrous racer Bruce Hemminger.

  NMCA All-Star Nationals, Z-Max Dragway, Aug 6-9

There was plenty of ProCharger power on display in NMCA racing during the zMAX weekend. In the fast-and-furious Outlaw 10.5W class, long-time ProCharger racer Jim Blair qualified in number one position with a 6.84 and then proceeded to dominate the class, taking the event win. Blair advanced thru eliminations with a first round bye, a second round win over Frank Meshaw before taking out Tony Nesbitt in the finals. The Outlaw 10.5W season championship looks like it will come down to the wire between Blair and Nesbitt. Leaving zMAX, Blair is leading the points and based on his consistent performances, is in a great position to secure the championship.

In NMCA's Xtreme Street action, Chuck Bartholme put his ProCharger-equipped Mustang into the number one qualifying spot with an 8.13 @ 172 mph. Making a very strong showing in his first full year of NMCA racing, Chris Singleton and his ProCharger F-3R equipped Mustang are also turning heads. Singleton had a first round bye and then busted an 8.17 to win the next round, followed by an outstanding 8.11 pass to grab another bye run before advancing into the finals against Bill Trovato. In the finals, both racers posted identical .036 reaction times and were side-by-side, but Trovato slowed while Singleton to powered on to the win. With this win and his overall consistency, Singleton has a great chance to wrap up the championship at the next race in Milan, MI.

PSCA & Bonneville Speed Week, Aug 8-14

Bonneville speed-demon, Dennis Zainfeld brought 5 cars to the world famous Bonneville Salt Flats, with four of them being equipped with ProCharger superchargers. Zainfeld's Gen II Firebird had a great event, winning the "Best Engineered" award along with "Best Appearing" while also recording the fastest full-bodied car pass in history! Using a ProCharger F-3R-139 supercharger on his big block Chevy, Zainfeld put the power to the salt and blasted the Firebird to 317 mph pass.

The Team Saline Mustang of Steve Benyo was also on hand but suffered mechanical issues on their first at-speed pass. Benyo and crew still hold the record as the World's Fastest Production Mustang they earned with their 232.448 mph pass in 2008.

Landspeed racer Tom Hanna and his driver, Bobby Moore were also on hand with their HEMI powered, ProCharger F3R-139 equipped streamliner. The car suffered mechanical failure when the carbon fiber driveshaft came apart and was unable to make a full, at-speed pass. Undaunted, the team is planning on making future land-speed record runs in their ProCharger-powered land missle.

Canadian Street Car Nationals, Aug 14-16

In addition to his NMRA racing schedule, ProCharger racer Enzo Pechinni also competes in the Canadian Street Car Nationals' EZ Street class. At the August 14-16 event at Toronto Motorsports Park, Pechinni had another great weekend, using his ProCharger-power and consistency to run in the 8.0's at more than 174 mph. Pechinni then powered his way through thru eliminations in into the finals where he took the win and the EZ Street Championship. Congratulation to Enzo and his entire team on their first championship!

NMCA, Milan, MI, Aug 28-30

Showing his dedication to the sport and his commitment to earning a season-long championship, Jim Blair made the long haul from Florida to Michigan for the late August event. Unfortunately, Blair and his crew fought mechanical gremlins all weekend which led to an early exit in Sunday's racing. But one race does not a championship make. Blair still earned valuable points and left Milan with the points lead in the Outlaw 10.5W class.

In Xteme Street racing, the Milan weekend belonged to Chris Singleton and his ProCharger-equipped Mustang. Singleton ran in the 7.90's all weekend, including a 7.96 that earned him the number 1 qualifying spot. During eliminations, Singleton's consistency and speed paid off with the event win. With the Milan win to his credit, Singleton and his crew are very close to wrapping up ProCharger's first championship in this hotly contested class.

WCHA and PSCA

Both of these western US-based sanctioning bodies take a break during the month of August, resuming their racing schedules once September rolls around. ProCharger-equipped racer Doug Sikora and his consistently fast 10.5W Mustang have their sights set on championships in both series.

Real Street Shootout at Maryland International Raceway

This race is gaining a lot of national coverage. Essentially a "run what ya brung" drag radial/stock suspension race, it attracts some of the best drag radial racers from the east coast. Running a fox-body Mustang equipped with an F-3R-131 ProCharged big block Chevy, the team of Chris Evans and Matt Butrim took on all comers and won the event soundly. Their best 1/8-mile time for the event was an outstanding 4.71 @ 154 mph.
