APRIL 2009
  NMCA Season Opener, Bradenton, FL

Long-time ProCharger racer Jim Blair made it clear that he will be a force in the 2009 NMCA Super Street Outlaw competition.

The NMCA season opener at Bradenton Motorsports Park turned out to be a great return for Blair's Automatic Transmission Factory-backed and ProCharger-powered "Silver Bullet Mustang. Blair owns and drives the 2,500+ horsepower Super Street 10.5 Mustang down the quarter mile in the 6 second zone in excess of 200 MPH.

The ATF team has worked hard over the winter prepping the car, only to be faced with 20-30 MPH head winds during qualifying. Making the most out of his ProCharged power and driving skills, Blair qualified third in a field of 14 competitors on Saturday with a 6.98 @ 198 MPH.

Advancing through eliminations, Blair lined up in the finals against Spiro Pappas. Blair cut an outstanding tree and left hard against Pappas. Unfortunately, Pappas lost traction, broke loose and hit the wall hard. Pappas' car was destroyed, but thankfully, the racer was OK.

Congratulations to Blair and his entire team on their season-opening NMCA Super Street Outlaw win!

The Bradenton event also marked the NMCA debut of ProCharger racer, Bo Butner. A current NHRA Record Holder in Comp Eliminator, Butner now campaigns his Chevrolet Cobalt powered by a ProCharger F-3R enhanced big block Chevy in NMCA's Super Street Outlaw class.
PSCA: LAS VEGAS, NV APRIL 17-19

Las Vegas hosted the PCSA event on April 17. In Outlaw 10.5 W, ProCharger racer Doug Sikora qualified no.4 with a 7.05 @ 204 mph. Kevin Guthrie also qualified with a 7.85 @ 189 mph.

In Wild Street, Kevin Young running his 3rg generation Camaro with a small block Chevy and a ProCharger F2, qualified no.1 with an 8.03 @ 174 mph. Chris Groves qualified no.2 with an 8.07 @ 174 mph. Young made it to the semis and Groves won the event. Congratulations to Chris Groves and his team!

HOT ROD TOP SPEED CHALLENGE, MAXTON, NC

When it comes to putting power down and moving cars forward just as fast as possible, the HOT ROD Top Speed Challenge excels. Held in conjunction with the East Coast Timing Association's season-opening event near Maxton, North Carolina, this standing-mile event challenges racers to get off the line and down the abandoned WWII airstrip and record their top speed at the end of just one mile.

As part of the event, HOT ROD magazine passes out their highly-coveted Top Speed Challenge jackets as additional prizes to class winners. This year, it was not one, but two ProCharger-equipped racers taking home the jackets and the top-speed titles in both the Super Street and Real Street classes.

Steve Benyo, using a ProCharger F-1R on 323 cu.in. 4-valve Ford "mod motor" in his 2003 Mustang Cobra, powered his way to very impressive 233.103 mph pass in the standing mile. This was his best performance ever at Maxton and easily led him to first place finish in the high-competitive Super Street Class.

Also using ProCharger-power for a class win in the top speed challenge was Mark Weiler. Battling some fuel-regulator issues, Weiler wheeled his ProCharger-equipped Firebird to a top speed of 178.777, which was still good enough for the Real Street class win and the Top Speed Challenge jacket!

Congratulations to both of these ProCharger racers! Check out the full article in the August 2009 issue of HOT ROD magazine.
