Just across the river from the big arch, Gateway International Raceway played host to the September 2 – 3 Black Sunday event. Outlaw Pro Mod racer Mark Micke, hailing from nearby Jefferson City, MO, put on quite a show for the crowd in St. Louis. Mark and his team qualified his 1968 Camaro number one out of 14 racers and went on to win the event, showing everyone what 4.21 @ 177 mph of ProCharger-equipped power looks like powering down the 1/8-mile.

During the NMRA event at Beach Bend Raceway on September 4-7, veteran racer John Urist qualified his SSO Mustang near the top of the field with a 7.48 @ 193 mph. Urist then went on to win the event over Don Burton and in doing so, locked up his third championship and second back-to-back championship in Super Street Outlaw. Congratulations to John and his team on their well-deserved and hard-earned 2007 NMRA Championship. At the same event, Tim Matherly qualified no. 1 and also reset both ends of the Real Street record book by running a 9.73 @ 139 mph! Matherly and his ProCharger-equipped Mustang then went on to win the event over teammate and fellow ProCharger racer Jim Breese in the finals, thereby clinching the 2007 Real Street Championship, and adding another championship to his mantle. Congratulations Tim and team for a fantastic season.

At the September 7 – 9 Fun Ford Weekend event at Ennis, TX, with the championship already locked up, Travis Franklin continued his season of domination by qualifying his flyin’ red Mustang in the number one position. Franklin ran in the 7’s all weekend long and finished in the runner-up spot. Congratulations again to Travis and his team for their breakout year.

For 2007, HOT ROD magazine’s Drag Week was contested from September 8 to the 15th. Drag Week is a grueling, week-long endurance test that requires every car to drive the full route under its own power with no external support: basically, no trailer queens! This year, the event was packed full of 8 second cars, but no one could touch Denny Terzich’s 1967 Camaro. Powered by a 580 cu. in. big block Chevrolet with an F-3R-131 ProCharger and intercooler, Terzich was the only car to run in the 7’s at all five tracks, with a best run of 7.61. Terzich captured the Unlimited Class win, as well as the overall win and the title: Fastest Street Car In America! Congratulations to Denny and the other ProCharger-equipped racers who competed in this challenging event!

What a weekend the September 22 – 23 NSCA event at National Trail Raceway turned out to be! In Pro Street racing, Jarod Wenrick again qualified in the top spot with an outstanding 6.45 @ 217 mph blast. By winning his first round match-up, Wenrick locked up the Pro Street championship! This marks the first ever Chevrolet-powered Pro Street championship won by a centrifugal supercharger-equipped car! Way to go, Jarod! Congratulations on your 2007 Championship. After locking-up the championship, Wenrick then went on to a runner-up finish for the event.

At the same NSCA event, Mike Modeste clinched his second NSCA Limited Street championship during Sunday’s rounds of eliminations. Congratulations to “Mustang Mike” and team on their 2007 Championship in his F-2R ProCharger-equipped Mustang! Also in Limited Street action, Eric Laferriere qualified number one with an 8.11 @ 179 mph, setting a new Limited Street mph record. Laferriere went on to a runner-up finish in the event.

In Outlaw Automatic Pro-Mod action at the Orangeburg Dragstrip on October 13, Ric Fleck set a new world record in 1/8-mile competition. Already running in the mid 4.2s, Fleck ripped off an incredible 4.141 @ 177 mph for the new record. Currently a 2001 Camaro Pro Mod body, Fleck is already testing his 2008 combination: a Mike Floyd-built 2008 Corvette Pro Mod. Running the same fuel-injected, big block Chevy and ProCharger F-3R, in initial test runs, Fleck had to shut the car down at the 330-ft mark, but recorded an astounding 2.70 time: that works out to a possible 4.11 1/8-mile pass! We can’t wait to see Team Flex in action in 2008.

At the September 28 – 30 NHRA event in Columbus, OH, ProCharger racers Bo Butner and Jeff Tayler claimed another record with their ProCharger-equipped Comp Eliminator Chevy Cobalt. This time the record was in the CC/A class, with the Butner/Taylor team setting both ends of the record by running a 7.10 @ 177.21 mph. Way to go guys!

Lincoln, NE was the site of the September 15 Missouri State Tractor Pulling Association event where the Bracken Brothers again pulled their way to a win with a pull of 312.04 feet with their twin Hemi / twin ProCharger modified tractor. With their abilities, and their torque and horsepower up substantially (45%+ increase in hp, 25%+ increase in TQ) over their old roots blower combination, it's no wonder that the Bracken Brothers are posting the wins.

The NMCA visited Atlanta Dragway September 14 – 16. With a firm hold on first place in the Super Street 10.5W points race, Jim Blair and his ’01 Mustang powered by an F-3R-131 ProCharger-equipped Ford, qualified in the number three spot with a 7.13 @ 198 mph.

In Xtreme Street action, Chuck Bartholme qualified his ProCharger powered Mustang in the number two spot with an 8.29 @ 165 mph.

On September 7 – 9 the National Hot Rod Association stopped by Tri-State Raceway in Earlville, IA, where long-time ProCharger racer Ben Board won his first Top Sportsman event. Racing a Pro Stock-style small block Chevy-powered S-10 truck, Board won with a 6.80 @ 196 mph. To date, Board’s best run has been a 6.70 @ 206 mph. Congratulations Ben on your first NHRA race win, as well as joining the elite group of over twenty ProCharged racers who have run in the sixes.
