The Clash of the Titans event in Tulsa, OK held April 21 marked a major milestone in ProCharger racing and a huge accomplishment for Mark Micke. He ran a mind-boggling 6.32 ET @ 228 MPH – the fastest pass ever by a ProCharger racer! And to make this feat even more astonishing, Mark did this in his ’68 Camaro which weighs in at a whopping 2800 lbs. Mark’s Camaro is supercharged with an F-3R-139 ProCharger, new for him this year, so he’s still getting dialed in. He’s confident that with more testing, he’ll be running in the 6.20’s @ 230 — stay tuned for more updates. Congratulations Mark for making ProCharger history!

NMCA’s Hot Rod & Muscle Car Nationals, held in Bradenton, FL April 13-15 was an event for the record books. In the final round Chuck set both ends of the class record with a 7.98 ET @ 174 MPH, also winning the event. This was the first ever 7 second pass in the Xtreme Street class and the first official 7 second run for an F-1R ProCharger in competition. Congratulations Chuck! Other ProCharged racers also ran well in this class. Nick Scavo, past nitrous champion, and his ’67 Chevelle BBC with an F-1R ProCharger is one to watch as the season progresses. Marty Chance also ran strong, with a best ET of 8.11 for the weekend.

At the ORSCA season opener at the Huntsville Dragway, David Reese had a record-shattering performance in the EZ Street Class. In the semifinal round, Reese set both ends of the 1/8 mile class record by posting a 4.92 ET @ 153 MPH. This lowered the ET mark by more than a tenth of a second and raised the top speed mark by nearly 4 MPH. Due to a tree malfunction, David didn’t win the final event, but rest assured he’ll be ready for a rematch and hungry for the win next time around. His all-new F-3 ProCharger equipped Outlaw Drag Radial Mustang has a 632 BBC running on methanol.

2004 NMRA SSO Champion, Jim Blair, made his debut NMCA appearance at the Hot Rod & Muscle Car Nationals in Bradenton, FL April 13-15. Blair was the top qualifier out of 11 cars in the Super Street 10.5W class which included two former class champions. After beating Dan Millen in the semifinals, Blair was slotted to match up against Bryan Markiewicz in the final. However, Markiewicz’s car broke down allowing Blair to cruise into the winner’s circle with a 7.21 ET @ 195 MPH for his first NMCA win. Congratulations Jim!

Bo Butner, the defending NHRA Comp Eliminator champion, (accomplished with a new setup and in the first season centrifugals were allowed in any NHRA class) made exhibition passes at the Super Chevy Show in Memphis, TN the weekend of April 20-22. Bo’s Chevy Cobalt powered with a small block Chevy and F-3 Reverse ProCharger impressed the crowd with a 7.10 ET @ 205 MPH run. Look for Bo to defend his title and make another run for the top spot this season in NHRA Comp Eliminator action.

Jarod Wenrick and Robbie Ward also wowed the Super Chevy Show crowd in Memphis with stellar exhibition passes. Jarod ran an astonishing 6.51 ET @ 213 MPH. He drives a ’68 Camaro equipped with a 565 BBC and F-3R-131 ProCharger running on methanol. Making it even more impressive, the Super Chevy Show was only his 4th time out, and he’s still getting dialed in. Look for Jarod to run low ET’s with big MPH this season in the NSCA Pro Street Class. He’s shown here facing off against Robbie Ward who posted a best of 7.11 ET @ 195 MPH for the weekend in his’68 Camaro equipped with a SBC and an F-2 ProCharger running on methanol.

Brian drives an ’88 Mustang powered with a 347 ci small block Ford, F-1C ProCharger and air-to-air intercooler, tuned by Mike Dez. All three racers will finish up at the next race at Bud’s Creek in Maryland, so stay tuned to next month’s racing update for the outcome.
