World Ford Challenge - Gateway International Raceway, Il

Tim Matherly set the pace in Real Street with a 9.709 @ 139.63 qualifying blast to earn him the #1 qualifying spot. He then proceeded to blast through the pack, only to redlight in the final against Craig Baldwin.

John Urist also led the pack in SSO, qualifying at 7.508 at 196.50 mph, confirming his “unbelievable” 196 mph runs at other venues. John ended up with the runner up position, giving the top spot to Don Burton with a 7.50 @ 188.94, even though John pulled a much faster 195.76 mph trap speed.

Pro 5.0 Champ Don Walsh, Jr qualified #2 with a 6.691 @ 206 mph, but had to hand the win by default to Chuck DeMory when he broke his transmission in the semi, and couldn't make the final call.

Pro Mod Drag Boat

Dawn Singleton is one gutsy lady. She is taking on blown alcohol Pro Mod Drag boats with a ProCharger equipped screamer running on gasoline. Since this photo, the team has switched to an EFI setup and has been running 7.40’s in test and tuning runs.

Finally, in Real Street, Tim Matherly qualified #3, took out defending champ Brian Meyer in the first round, which earned him Meyer’s second round #1 qualifying bye. That put him up against “Uncle Robin” Lawrence in a squeaker of a final, with Tim getting runner up spot by just a .021 deficit.

In Drag Radial, Chad Doyle was #1 qualifier and also set a record with a 8.13 @ 172 mph, pushing aside 18 other drivers. Right behind Chad was his buddy Jason Lee with a 8.243. ProCharger cars qualified 1, 2 and 3 in the class, and produced the lowest ET for every round of eliminations! See a trend here? Congratulations to Chad for his new record and getting the win in a very competitive class.

NMRA - Maple Grove Raceway, Reading, PA

“Fireball” John Urist once again spanked SSO with a 7.561 @ 189 mph, which netted him the #1 qualifying spot out of 13 cars. He then set a record with a 190, and had low ET for every round of eliminations. No wonder they call him Fireball. He just burned through everyone on the way to the win. Even when the likes of nitrous racer Don "Burndown" Burton got the jump on him at the tree in the semis, his ProCharger F-3 had the raw horsepower to grab the finish line first.
