Mike Leake’s C5 Corvette has an outwardly stock appearance, but under the hood is lurking a force-fed 427 cubic inch LS1. Featuring a ProCharger F-1C supercharger with an 8-rib drive producing 14 psi of boost, Mike has achieved 780 horsepower at the rear
tires on pump gas (nearly 900 flywheel HP). The ProCharger is mated to a set of twin ATI Race Intercoolers delivering the coolest available charge air in the industry and ensuring the reliability of this awesome small block Chevy. Vette Magazine recently wrote a feature on Mike’s car so, watch your newsstands for this beautiful car in an upcoming issue.

Daniel Pachar brought home the Cobra Eliminator championship at World Ford Challenge 8 in St. Louis, MO. Daniel was driving Jimmie Nugent’s fully loaded 2004 Cobra equipped with a straight out of the box, self-contained F-1A ProCharger system using a 6 rib drive. This Cobra was so new it had less than 1400 miles on it at WFC8 and still had the factory cams. Cobras arrive from the factory equipped with low performance and efficiency positive displacement (PD) superchargers. Therefore, many owners have opted to install larger version PD units with nitrous to increase their performance. Unlike the Cobra Class of FFW and other venues, at this prestigious race, nitrous is not allowed to assist the PD camp. Now for the first time, a race-sanctioning body has overseen a comparison of the ProCharger against the best PD superchargers available. The winning time of 9.434 @ 140.72 mph was a full 3/10 of a second and 5 mph faster than the competition, proving the absolute superiority of ProCharger technology. In order to run that speed, a vehicle of this weight must produce nearly 800 hp with a 281 CID engine.

Tim Matherly grabbed his second win at World Ford Challenge in Real Street making him the back-to-back, 2004 & 2005 Champion for this prestigious event. He is also the reigning NMRA Real Street champion. His winning time of 9.53 @ 141.50 easily beat back the challenge from Robin Lawrence’s Paxton equipped car by over 3/10th of a second even after the Paxton car jumped the green light for a foul. Tim’s flaming blue Mustang is equipped with a non-intercooled P-1SC-2 ProCharger. Congratulations to Tim and Daniel for these well-deserved championships.

Steve Morris was recently featured on ESPN’s Inside Drag Racing as he spoke about the many advantages of the ProCharger. ESPN was impressed with his rail dragster featuring a self-contained F-1R ProCharger, which currently holds the track record at Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon at 199.0 mph. During filming, Steve was so confident in the performance of his ProCharger built motors, he ran a live dyno test for ESPN to demonstrate the potential of a pump gas race engine. During the test he produced 1337 horsepower and over 1305 ft-lbs of torque on a single four-barrel carburetor. He has since achieved over 1700 hp and is developing a single 4-barrel, big block 2000 hp engine for pump gas! To see this and many other exciting examples of the media’s fascination for ProCharger performance, go to www.procharger.com/multimedia.shtml.

For the sixth straight year, ProCharger had a big presence at the World Ford Challenge race. On the manufacturers midway, ATI pulled out all the stops to meet with the fans and racers who helped make ProCharger a success. The beautiful ProCharger 18 wheeler was on the midway sporting our latest array of offerings for ’05 GT’s, Cobras, F150’s, Focus’ and even a pair of ProCharged Harley Davidson motorcycles. The traditional ProCharger hospitality tent was also set up to provide food, refreshments and a little shade for the dealers and racers. Additionally, this is one of four annual company sponsored family events for the employees at ATI and they came out in strength to see some of the best Ford racing available.

J. R. Granatelli installed one of the hot new HO Intercooled ProCharger systems on this red GTO. This industry leading system features a self-contained P-1SC-1 and delivers 50-55% horsepower gains on a stock GTO with pump gas at only 7 psi of boost. However, to see what kind of potential the new Pontiac really had, they then added on a set of headers, high flow cats and valve springs. To date, they have a best time of 11.82 in the quarter at 127.8 mph. For those of you wishing to redefine performance levels in the Pontiac GTO, ProCharger also offers an Intercooled Serpentine Race Kit with the self-contained D-1SC.

Because of terrible weather conditions, the organizers of the 2nd Annual Garden State FFW Nationals in Englishtown, NJ race decided to carry over the qualifying ladders to the Richmond, VA event scheduled for June. However, before the rains put a stop to the action, Phil Clemmons came in as the #1 Qualifier in Drag Radial. His time of 8.308 bested the entire field and he’ll be looking to take another win in Richmond. Owen Spry also continued his winning ways with his C-2 ProCharger equipped Focus. He qualified in the #1 spot for the Focus Frenzy class before the show was called off.

Kurt Gallant also put in a tremendous effort at WFC8 in the Renegade class by taking all comers up to the finals. His 8.83 in the last race was slightly off his typical pace, but good for runner-up in this tough field. Kurt is another ex-nitrous racer who tired of breaking parts and continuously working on the car to keep it together. Switching to the ProCharger camp with the industry leading F-1R has proven to be a good move for Kurt. As he dials in this season, watch for him to take a dominating role in the super competitive EFI Renegade class.
