The NMRA came to ATI ProCharger’s home track at Kansas City International Raceway on July 8-10. ProCharger was a sponsor of the race and even sponsored an open track on Thursday afternoon for a test and tune session for all racers. The ProCharger Racing rig was there with a bevy of Intercooled ProCharger cars and Harleys for the fans to see. J. Fritz from Blue Springs won the drawing for the Intercooled ProCharger System giveaway and after installation, claims she will be taking her newly ProCharged truck back from her husband! Halfway through the racing season, ProCharger continues to be dominant at the track with 2 Championships tucked away already. Across the six classes ProCharged racers are competing in for the NMRA, the top two classes have a ProCharger team running away with the points lead. In the remaining four classes, ProCharger is in either 2nd or 3rd with an incredibly tight points race after 6 of 9 races have been completed. In FFW’s highest classes, 4 ProCharger teams are in the top 3 positions of the points race.

Don Walsh Jr. owned the month of July. First he tore up the track at KCIR despite blistering heat and humidity. By Saturday’s end, he was the #1 Qualifier and then on Sunday took all comers for the win in Pro 5.0 with his intercooled F-3A ProCharger. Moving over to Joliet, he promptly came in as the top qualifier with a 6.74 and in the finals ran a 6.73 ET to handily beat the runner-up’s 6.87. Don’s 2005 campaign is going strong as he continues to stretch out his lead in the NMRA points race. In Super Street Outlaw, John Urist brought his F-3C ProCharger to put on a strong showing at KC. He reset the 2005 record with a run of 188 mph while temperatures hovered around 100 degrees. By the end of the race, he had also captured the #2 Qualifier and was runner-up in the finals. At Joliet, John promptly shattered his own record with a cool 190 mph pass in qualifying.

Michael Young used his F-3R ProCharged Cobra to take #1 Qualifier at the Joliet race in Super Street Outlaw with a trip through the lights in just 7.63 seconds at 188.36 mph. Tim Matherly beat the heat and the competition in KC for the Real Street class. His P-1SC-2 ProCharger equipped Mustang took #1 Qualifier honors by over 2 tenths. Then on Sunday, Tim worked his way through three rounds to bring home the win. He then drove to Joliet, earning #2 Qualifier. He made it to the finals but a broken U-joint at the line ended his weekend about 9 seconds early. Phil Clemmons cut loose in KC on Saturday taking the top qualifier run in the Drag Radial class. With his 8.42 @ 167 mph, he was over 3/10th of a second faster than the pack. Moving across to Route 66 Raceway, he was again top qualifier there with an incredibly consistent 8.41 @ 167.59 mph.

Mike Dezotell

Mike Hupp’s immaculate, flamin’ blue Malibu arrived in Edgewater, Ohio and came away the winner in OSCA’s Pro Street class. Mike’s winning time of 5.12 @ 146 for the 1/8 mile is even more amazing when you find the track was a sizzling 145 degrees when he laid it down for the payday. Mike’s car is equipped with an intercooled reverse drive F-3 ProCharger. Gary Rohe also pulled in a #1 Qualifier prize at Edgewater in Outlaw 10.5 with the weekend’s best of 4.88 @ 145.48 mph in the 1/8. Gary’s 1980 Mustang is running a fully self-contained Intercooled F-3A ProCharger.

Donny Hastings is campaigning in the NSCA’s Limited Street class with this 1986 Camaro. Equipped with a reverse drive F Series ProCharger, he took the Top MPH trophy at Salem’s rained out race with a run of 170.82 mph in qualifying. Mike Modeste‘s Intercooled F-2 ProCharger on a 1993 Mustang was #2 Qualifier at Salem with a 8.37 ET. Jason McNeil also brought his "World’s Fastest LS1" but with the race cancellation, they were not able to post any of their famous 7-second runs. The eliminations from the Salem race will be contested at the 3-day World Finals in Columbus, Ohio.

In FFW’s Street Renegade at Norwalk, Dan Schoneck once again reset both ends of the record with an incredible 7.78 @ 185 mph. This ET was a full 2/10th better than the top qualifier’s time who Dan put on the trailer in the finals. Equipped with a F-2 Reverse ProCharger, Dan’s summer hobby seems to be resetting records in this class. Trace Meyer borrowed a F-2 ProCharger for FFW’s Drag Radial at Norwalk and promptly nailed the #1 Qualifier spot. He then posted an incredible 8.02 ET in first round eliminations representing the fastest pass ever recorded for DR in both FFW and NMRA. A mechanical problem in the final awarded him the runner up spot. At Joliet’s NMRA race, Trace Meyer put the F-1R back on and ran a record shattering 8.28 ET. In the ProCharger final, Trace beat our competitor’s XX Trim blower by over a tenth to take home the bacon.

At Cordova’s, Hot Rod and Muscle Car Nationals for NMCA, Mike Dezotell set the standard for Street Race in his ProCharged Mustang. His #1 Qualifier was a slick 9.41 at 147 mph. Mike was running a solid 2/10th ahead of the entire pack up to the final. In the semifinals he put the points leader on the trailer and was set for last race. He pulled a quicker 9.34 in the final but a moment’s hesitation at the light made him the runner up.

Patrick Barnhill
Mark Micke

Patrick Barnhill owns this super 1970 Nova with a 356 cubic inch small block. Burning alcohol, Patrick’s tricked out early Chevy sports a fully self-contained F-2 ProCharger. Using a "blow through" configuration on his carburetor, he has a best time of 8.09 in the quarter. This elapsed time makes him the undisputed, fastest blow through supercharger setup on the planet. Patrick is claiming to still have room on the tune with a bigger fuel pump and he is on a crusade to knock down the magic 7-second barrier this year.

Mark Micke’s wicked looking, "bad to the bone" 67 Camaro is the highest horsepower ProCharger car on the Earth. It comes as no surprise it is also now the World’s Fastest Outlaw 10.5 in 1/8-mile drag racing. His highest speed currently stands at 169 mph due to the F-3R ProCharger on his alcohol burning 526 cubic inch big block Chevy. Until Mark showed on the scene, no other power adder has ever gone faster than 167 mph in the 1/8 mile with any Outlaw 10.5 car. Using this 2500+ horsepower supercar, Mark also took the win in Eddyville, Iowa’s Pro Outlaw Drag Racing Series on July 23rd.
