Debuting his new car 2000 Camaro Super Street/Outlaw 10.5 car at the Atlanta NSCA event, Ray Sanchez is unable to make any test passes as the event is rained out. Based on numbers observed in testing, the Sanchez team believes the new car will have what it takes to be the first Super Street car to run over 200mph on the mandated 31" "W" tires. Other ProCharged racers hoping to put up big numbers in ‘04 NSCA action are "Mustang Mike" Modeste running an F-2 in his 289 ci Limited Street Entry and David Burgess in Drag radial with his F-3 equipped Big Block Nova.

The NMRA’s stop in Columbus proves to be a good one for ProCharged racers. Jim Blair again leads the Street Outlaw pack in the rain-shortened qualifying, running a 7.84 @ 176 mph, while Jason Smith wasn’t too far behind running 7.93 @ 172 mph to grab the #4 position. In eliminations, it was Billy Laskowsky who puts up the big numbers, posting a 7.78 @ 180 mph in his ‘01 Mustang during eliminations to upset Jim Blair. In defeating Blair, Laskowsky advances to his first ever NMRA Street Outlaw final round where he runs another 7.78, this time at 183 mph.

In drag radial action, Phillip Clemmons ’88 Mustang GT runs an unbelievable 8.34 @ 168 mph in eliminations, but is unable to carry the momentum to a victory, as a slippery track gets the best of him in the semi-finals. In real street, Tim Matherly proves that his first two victories were no fluke. Tim rubn consistent 9.80's in his ‘01 Bullitt throughout the race and caps the weekend off with an impressive 9.69 @ 139 mph for the win.

Making the annual pilgrimage to Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis, ProCharged racers put on a good show for the thousands in attendance at the 8th annual World Ford Challenge. Bolting on a true 10.5" (he runs the 33" x 10.5" "W" in FFW competition) tire to compete in the Pro Street Outlaw class for this event, Travis Franklin blows everyone away running an unbelievable 7.45 @ 192 mph mph with his ‘00 Mustang to take the #1 spot in the fastest field of true 10.5" cars ever assembled. Also running well in the class are NMRA Outlaw record holder Jim Blair, Jim Briante, Don Shobe, Mike Trimandilis and Billy Laskowsky. Jim Briante and his family are recognized for their Ford Racing accomplishments in a pre-race ceremony where they receive the WFC8 award for perserverance.

Traveling to Houston for the first of two 2004 Fun Ford events to be held in Texas, Doug Mangrum debuts his new Pro 5.0 ride (the same car campaigned by 2003 champ Tony Gillig of ASSC racing) and is long on power but short on traction. The car shows promise with it’s reverse mounted F-3R but is unable to put the newfound power to the ground. Look for this car to be back at the top of the class when Mangrum & crew get it sorted out. Improving upon their past performances, DJ Loiacano and Crede Young both put up impressive numbers in Street Renegade, with DJ setting the class record and qualifying #1 running 8.45 @ 173 mph. Joe Robinson gets his car sorted out and runs a best of 8.68 in eliminations, while Crede Young makes it to the semi finals where he and DJ run one of the closest races of the weekend with DJ taking the win running an 8.53 @ 169 mph to Crede’s very close 8.54. DJ advances to the finals where he runs an 8.587 @ 169.23 mph to capture the win.

In NSCA action at Cecil County Dragway, despite being the only supercharged car in the class, "Mustang Mike" Modeste turns heads in Limited Street competition running very consistent 8.0's in his ‘93 Cobra during eliminations running an 8.05 @ 173 mph to grab the win, while also setting the class E.T. and mph records in his newly repainted 93 Mustang. Though he is running the same 290ci small block Ford from 2003, Mike has moved from last year’s larger F-3C to an F-2 in an effort to ensure that parity is maintained among Limited Street competitors.

Running a class that is new to PRO for the 2004 season, John King leads all Super Truck qualifiers at ATCO raceway in New Jersey, running 10.92 @ 130 mph and takes his 3700 lb, D-1SC equipped "Junkyard Dog" ‘99 S-10 blazer to the victory with consistent performance in the Super Truck category. Donny Hastings brings his Camaro to do battle in the Xtreme street category and improves upon his best performance from Bradenton despite the hot humid conditions, but succumbs to traction woes in eliminations, bringing his weekend to an early end.

The big news in eliminations is Jim Blair racing his ‘95 Cobra-R to victory over the heavily favored Bill Glidden in the quarter finals, running a 7.61 ET @ 186 mph. After defeating Glidden, Blair earns a bye to the finals where he faces Dan Millen, in perhaps the best race of the weekend. Both run identical 7.82 E.T.’s with Millen taking the win on a holeshot. Another ProCharged racer finds his way to the finals, Drag Radial competitor "Big" Bob McDonald who runs as fast as 8.58 ET @ 169 mph during eliminations. In real street action, Tim Matherly continues his Hot Streak in his Bullitt and grabs the win, running a 9.77 in the finals.
