ProCharged racers continue their dominance of
the Fun Ford Street Renegade class with Joe Robinson qualifying #1 and
picking up his second victory of the season with a win at Bristol Dragway.
Joe ran an 8.11 @ 171 to get the #1 spot and ran consistently through eliminations
to capture the victory. Right on Joe's heels was Crede Young who qualified
#2 with an impressive 8.14 @ 171.
Dave King and Aaron Archer also made the field
with their mod-motored entries, as these two continue their battle for the
title of fastest supercharged modular. King recently took the bragging rights
away from Archer with an 8.39 @ 163 in May. Also of note was Street Outlaw
racer Travis Franklin who returned to competition to grab the #3 qualifying
position with an early shutoff 7.49 @ 184. Though the slippery track got
the best of Travis in eliminations, he has been working on the chassis and
expects consistent 7.20's from the car at the upcoming Fun Ford event
at his home track in Ennis, Tx.
At Atco, New Jersey, the NMRA suffered a rainout in their
only event scheduled in August. In Fun Ford action in late August at New England
Dragway in Epping, Rob Corujo crossed over from NMRA competition and took
runner-up in Fun Ford's Drag Radial class. Rob has had an impressive season
thus far, and after recently qualifying #1 at the NMRA event in Kansas City,
has now reached the finals in Drag Radial at 3 events.
