In NMRA competition in at Silver Dollar raceway
in Reynolds, Ga., Jim Blair continues to dominate the Street Outlaw Competition
with his ‘95 Cobra-R. Running strong through the entire weekend, Blair
qualifies #1 with a 7.83 ET @ 183 mph with his intercooled, F-3R equipped
small block in the finals, earning the win over Mauro Vitale’s F-3 equipped
Mustang in an all ProCharger final. Also putting up strong numbers with a
ProCharger in Outlaw, Billy Laskowsky (with tuning by Jim LaRocca of LaRocca’s
Performance) has a breakout performance scoring the NMRA Street Outlaw record
with mind blowing 188 and 189 mph runs!
Drag Radial class at Silver Dollar also features
an all-ProCharger finals, which is becoming a common sight in many classes.
Putting up another strong performance is Bradenton event winner Phillip Clemmons,
who qualifies his ‘88 GT #1 and meets fellow ProCharged racer Rob Corujo’s
GT (racing out of the LaRocca’s Performance camp) in the finals. Phillip
gets to the other end of the slippery track first to grab his second victory
of the season. In Real Street Tim Matherly continues his winning ways, again
running consistent 9.80's through the weekend with his non-intercooled P-1SC-2
equipped 4.6. With this win, Matherly joins Blair and Clemmons with a 2-0
start to the season.
Inspired by the positive response to the two appearances
at Super Chevy events in 2003, ATI hits the road in 2004 with their 91 Octane
fueled Super Chevy magazine project ‘69 Nova, with plans to make exhibition
passes at 6 Super Chevy events in the 2004 season. Their first stop in Memphis
is a hit with enthusiasts as the 3300 lb machine runs low 8's at 160 mph in
front of a capacity crowd. Having run in the 12's in non-supercharged form
on that same weekend, the car picks up nearly 50 mph in trap speed and shaves
nearly 4 seconds off of the ET with the installation of the intercooled ProCharger
F-2, running pump gas!

Two ProCharged Street Renegade racers make an impressive
debut at the Fun Ford Weekend event at Commerce, Ga. with Creda Young qualifying
his ‘90 LX Coupe in the #1 spot with a 8.307 @ 161 mph, and DJ Loicano
(of the ASSC racing team) running a best of 8.42 @ 165 mph in his Mustang
GT during eliminations. Other ProCharged racers making the show are Travis
Franklin in Street Outlaw and Joe Robinson in Street Renegade. Additional
ProCharged racers who are working to complete their cars and will be competing
at Fun Ford events in the near future include Stan Allen, Dan Schonek, Chris
Little and Dave King. Phil Clemmons and Bob McDonald also plan on crossing
over from the NMRA and attending some FFW Drag Radial events in 2004.
Testing the waters in PRO Xtreme street proves to be beneficial
for Jim Filipowski who, in his ‘67 Nova works his way through a record
field of 31 qualified cars to reach the finals with his carbureted, non-intercooled
F-1R. Also joining the ProCharger camp is Donny Hastings in his ‘86
Camaro. Running a small block equipped with an F-1R, he runs 8.80's at his
3400 lb race weight in early shakedown runs, but is unable to improve on those
numbers as he encounters mechanical problems on raceday.
