September 2002
At the September Fun Ford Finale in Texas, Doug Mangrum runs 6.90’s in Pro 5.0, and Mike Freeman, who had already locked up the Street Renegade championship, runs in the 8’s again with an 8.97 @ 155 mph. In the NMRA finals, both Jimmy LaRocca and Jason Cohen qualify #1 and win their classes, in EFI Renegade and Super Street Outlaw, respectively. By doing so, LaRocca wins the EFI Renegade championship, while Cohen caps a fine season by consistently running in the high 7’s on every single pass during eliminations. In October, Nick Trombetta becomes the third ProCharged Renegade racer in the 8’s, running an 8.97 @ 153 mph during Fords at Englishtown. At the same event, Bob McDonald runs an 8.90 @ 156 mph in Drag Radial. Congratulations to these fine racers for another outstanding season.
