| At the NMRA Spring Ford Nationals in Bradenton, Florida, three of the top race teams in the country put on quite a show. In what is likely to become a familiar sight this season, the LaRocca/Freedman and Large/Beningo teams both pulled the trifecta, by qualifying #1, setting new records, and posting wins in each of their respective classes. Additionally, Don Walsh, jr ran a 7.10 ET in his automatic-powered Pro 5.0 as he looks to improve upon his 6.96 ET and 2 wins from last season. | ![]() The Large/Beningo team scores the trifecta in Brandenton |

In Real Street, Gabe Large
has taken the reigns from Ed Curtis in Chris Beningo’s P-1SC powered
Evil Twin. At Bradenton, Gabe qualified #1 and set the record with a 10.42
ET. He then advanced through eliminations and took the win in the finals
against Fred Felt. In EFI Renegade, Jimmy LaRocca was low qualifier with
a 9.14 ET in the F-1R powered red rocket owned by Mike Freedman. Jimmy
then took the win and the record with a 9.05 ET @ 153 mph in the finals
against Bob Kurgan, and beat Kurgan’s best performance for the weekend
by nearly three-tenths and 8 mph. |
