July
13-15, 2001 Fun Ford Weekend - Norwalk, Ohio
The team of Jim Summers and Tim Huston (ASSC Racing ) breaks out and
runs a 6.95 ET @ 201 mph to join Doug Mangrum in the exclusive supercharged
six-second zone. Meanwhile, Don Walsh, Jr. also runs extremely strong
while dialing in his new car, and takes the win in Pro 5.0 with a 7.10
ET @ 193 mph. Both of these racers are powered by the new ProCharger
F-3SC, and in addition to showing turbos who is making the most reliable
power, are opening up a spread of nearly 1 second over the closet driver
powered by a competing supercharger.
In Street Renegade
class, 2 of the top 4 qualifiers are ProCharged, as the dominant forces
of 2000, Jimmy LaRocca and Tommy Annunziata, compete at a Renegade event
together for the first time this year. The LaRocca team has claimed
7 Renegade wins in the past 14 months, but they are denied victory this
race, as Jimmy claims runner-up after fuel system problems shut him
down from an apparent win.
Congratulations
to all of these racers for an outstanding weekend of racing!

July
8-10, 2001 Fun Ford Weekend - Gainsville, Florida
In Street Outlaw action, ProCharged racers began turning up the power
with their new ProCharger D-3R's. First, the team of Stan Allen and
Alan Masson debuted their 2001 Mustang in spectacular fashion, posting
a 7.97 ET @ 176 mph with a D-3R to become the first blown 5.0 Outlaw
in the 7's. Two weeks later they would improve upon this with a 7.87
ET @ 176 mph in Richmond, Virginia. Meanwhile, defending Outlaw champion
Joe Robinson, taking advantage of the additional power gained by stepping
up from a D-3M to a D-3R, went on to win Street Outlaw in Gainesville
with excellent driving.
Doug Mangrum, in
his first time out since taking the win in Atlanta and becoming the
first Pro 5.0 racer in the 6's, picks up his second Pro 5.0 win of the
year with a 7.0 ET @ 198 mph, once again beating a turbo in the finals.
Congratulations
to Doug and Joe for the wins, and to Alan and Stan for the significant
milestone they achieved.
