In the last issue of Up To Speed, a feature story focused on how ProCharger figured prominently in the 20th Century Fox movie “Taxi”, starring Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon. In the movie, Latifah’s character receives a ProCharger® as a gift to install on her New York City taxi, so she can outrun anything in town as she delivers her passengers. In real life, the movie vehicles never had superchargers installed. But a couple of young entrepreneurs and college buddies, Zach Kanter and Junus Khan, decided to buy one of the actual movie vehicles, a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria, and enter it in the legendary Bull Run Rally. The Rally is an outrageous, New York to Los Angeles flat out, get there as fast as you can and however you can cross country blast. It has become a huge event, drawing celebrities like Mario Andretti, Boyd Coddington and Dennis Rodman, and is also gaining a fast growing worldwide following. Zach and Junus had 2 weeks to prepare the car for the rally, and to keep up with all the mega-dollar exotic vehicles entered in the race, they relied on a standard Intercooled ProCharger system designed for a 4.6 Mustang GT, which, with minor modifications, was easily installed in the Crown Vic. After multiple citations, 3,500 miles, and a series of wild high speed adventures, which included a mano e mano race against a corporate jet and chopper, the Taxi drivers piled into LA for a well deserved rest.
