Introduced in late 2001, Intercooled ProCharger systems for the C5 have quickly
become the industry standard, routinely producing 540+ hp with stock 1997-2003
Corvettes. A recent customer’s 1999 LS1 Vette running 7 psi (see dyno
results, below) demonstrates typical results, producing 489 rwhp on 91 octane
fuel. This equates to 575 flywheel hp, assuming a 15% loss through the manual
drivetrain. The peak power numbers are similar for Z06 motors (which are limited
to 6 psi on stock motors due to the Z06’s higher compression ratio),
but the average power will be greater. And for those wishing to turn up the
boost and power even further, the self-contained P-1SC-1 ProCharger and high
performance intercooler system in the H.O. Intercooled package will each support
over 750 hp, so the system is definitely upgradable.
Third-party testing provides further evidence of the superiority of ProCharger
technology. In a recent test by Vette magazine, a standard H.O. Intercooled
Pro-
Charger system produced 458 rwhp (approx. 540 flywheel hp) with 7 psi, on
a stock 2001 LS1 Corvette (302 naturally aspirated rwhp, 6-speed manual transmission).
In other recent testing, this time by Corvette Fever magazine, a modified
2002 Z06 equipped with ATI’s Intercooled Serpentine Race Kit with D-1SC
ProCharger produced 644 rwhp (approx. 760 flywheel hp) running 11-12 psi.
The only upgrades to support this higher power level were a custom 8 rib drive,
modified fuel system and custom tuning.
Stock or modified, Intercooled ProCharger systems for the C5 simply produce
the largest and most reliable power gains available. A polished finish for
the supercharger and bracket assembly, as well as a three year supercharger
warranty, are standard. This product also features the easiest installation
of any forced induction system for the C5, without any modifications which
would prevent a return of the vehicle to stock condition.
