When ATI introduced its first intercooled supercharger system for trucks and sport utilities, not everyone was familiar with intercooling. But things have come a long way in a short time. If you have been watching the "Trucks!" television show recently, then you most likely heard Stacey David’s observations:

“Any time that you compress air, like with a supercharger, that creates heat, and heat is the enemy of horsepower. An air-to-air intercooler takes that hot blast of air and cools it down. This [Intercooled ProCharger system*] will give you a 65% increase in power [with 8.5 psi]. That’s more than any other supercharger on the market.” And this industry leading performance is now available for even more truck and SUV applications.

In addition to Intercooled ProCharger systems for 1988-2003 GM and 1997-2003 Ford applications, ATI recently introduced new systems for Dodge trucks and SUV’s. 1997-2001 Dakota and Durango, as well as 1996-2001 Ram applications, began shipping in late 2002. All of these truck/SUV systems feature both ATI’s patented self-contained superchargers, and exclusive air-to-air intercooling.

Sport Truck magazine dyno tested a ProCharger system in its September 2001 issue, and recorded a 68% increase in power at 8.5 psi. In addition to describing the benefits of the ProCharger itself, the magazine also noted the advantages of the intercooled design:

“When put into the system, an intercooler brings the air temp back down, thus increasing its density and removing the need to retard timing. Reliable power gains go from 25-45 percent with a supercharger alone to 60-75 percent with an intercooler.”

Intercooled ProCharger systems are now available for Chevy, Ford, Dodge and GMC trucks and SUV’s.
